Life-to-Eagle Transition

Transitioning from being a Life Scout to an Eagle Scout can be a long and challenging process. The demands on your time as you get older get bigger, so balancing Scouts with school, sports, family and community service requires time and energy to get your Eagle requirements complete. It is important to start planning early and work toward your Eagle Rank incrementally. Please contact our Life-to-Eagle Coach early and often when you achieve Life Scout rank to start planning your transition to Eagle Scout.

Eagle Scout Paperwork and Record Keeping

In order to apply to become and Eagle Scout, you need to accomplish the following:

  1. You must complete the Eagle Scout requirements outlined in your Guide to Scouting Book

  2. You must complete your Eagle Scout project

  3. You must obtain contact information of up to 6 people who are willing to write you a letter of recommendation

  4. You must write a letter of ambition and life's purpose

  5. You must complete an Eagle Scout application

  6. You must obtain and submit a copy of your complete scouting record from our advancement chair after you have completed all Eagle Rank requirements.

  7. You must complete an Eagle Scout Board of Review

Important things to remember:

  • Start early and make incremental progress on planning and execution. Don't wait until the last minute.

  • READ ALL OF THE PAPERWORK THOROUGHLY. Ask questions if you need help.

  • Keep good records. The Boy Scouts love paperwork.

    • Create a binder of all of your paperwork, receipts, accomplishments, media coverage, and, most importantly, approvals.

    • Track your donations and expenses, and make sure you complete any required paperwork if you intend to solicit for donations.

  • Make sure you are reaching out to anyone who has to sign your paperwork early to coordinate time with them to get their signatures.

  • Make sure you know all of the rules about safety before you start your Eagle Project.

  • Contact the media if you want your project or your Eagle Rank to be in the newspaper or electronic media.
